For reviewers

Reviewer Misconduct

Global Medical Reviews uses single-blind external peer review. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors. Suitable manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent external reviewers. Recommendations are advisory; the handling editor and, where required, the Editor-in-Chief make the final decision.

Unacceptable reviewer conduct

  • Disclosure of the manuscript or secure link.
  • Appropriation or premature use of unpublished ideas, methods or data.
  • Intentional delay or acceptance without intention to complete the review.
  • Abusive, discriminatory, humiliating or personally directed comments.
  • Concealed conflict of interest or unauthorized co-reviewing.
  • Use of prohibited AI systems or undisclosed AI assistance.
  • Coercive requests to cite the reviewer or irrelevant sources.
  • Attempts to influence the decision for non-scientific reasons.

Editorial response

The Editorial Office may remove inappropriate comments, seek an explanation, disregard the report, appoint another reviewer, restrict future invitations, record the incident internally, contact the reviewer’s institution in serious cases, and follow applicable COPE procedures.
