For reviewers

Deadlines and Extensions

Global Medical Reviews uses single-blind external peer review. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors. Suitable manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent external reviewers. Recommendations are advisory; the handling editor and, where required, the Editor-in-Chief make the final decision.

Invitation response

Please respond to a review invitation as soon as reasonably possible. The secure invitation displays its current validity and the Editorial Office may send administrative reminders when a response is pending.

Review deadline

The applicable due date is stated in the individual review invitation and secure reviewer portal. The Peer-Review Policy does not prescribe a universal fixed number of days for all reviews.

Extension

If the stated due date cannot be met, contact the Editorial Office or use the secure review page before the deadline to request a revised date. Any extension is subject to editorial approval.

Reviewer workload

To avoid overburdening reviewers, the system warns against more than two active assignments or more than six invitations in a rolling 12-month period. Senior editorial approval and a recorded reason are required for an exception.
